or even one better than RTV, do you guy's have sikaflex over there? it is urethane, they install windscreens in cars with it (not windscreen sealant) i love that stuff but it's a nightmare to get off if you use it as a gasket. you wont wear it off in a hurry either.

I was thinking the same thing about splitting a little bit and forcing some into the crack with a large needle or something. I did not say this as i think there is potential for more leaks if this does not work as planned.

I wonder if this is what they put on these VN rebuilt tractors? When i put a new wheel seal in there was a stuff like glue that held the gaskets and the flage togeather. It was super tough and i basically tore the gasket paper apart to get the 2 pieces apart. I had to take a razor blade and a wire wheel to get the stuff off and it took a while to get off with the wheel!!!

Austrailia is close to VN china in regards to us and its probably made in china so its likely you are talking about the same stuff they use at the VN rebuild yards.

Yeah but look at it this way-he needs to split it anyway to do it right he has nothing to loose if its done with finesse it should work that's our story.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Today I was testing the alternator and regulator, both tested ok, after re-connecting the connector the charge light goes out and testing at the battery with tractor running I get 14.87 volt, so its now charging. Lucky me, guess the terminals weren't making contact and taking it apart and back fixed it..

I also have a story that happened this evening that you guys need to here. A little off topic but whatever..

I needed to replace my battery in my ym2210, I purchased a everstart maxx from wal-mart last september, so it was still under warranty. Anyway, was back in automotive looking for another and the guy at the service counter was just asking me what was wrong with it and what it was used in, When I told him a tractor he told me he could replace it but since I was buying for a tractor the new battery wouldnt carry the warranty..that it was policy..I told him they didnt ask what I purchased it for originally. He told me that it is an automotive battery and wal-marts policy states they cant sell it for that application.

This moron and 2 managers argued the same point and told me I needed to buy a "tractor" battery.. I ain't never in my life heard such bullsh*t, Im pretty sure there are no such thing as a tractor battery, all I am aware of are starting, marine, and industrial type. Anyway I asked to see the policy which they never showed and eventually just gave me my cash back, I went to autozone and had no issues..

First time in my life I couldnt exchange a battery at wal-mart...please if I am wrong someone tell me, is there a "tractor" battery? lol

Last time I buy a battery from wal-mart, or if you do better not say its for a tractor..geez

I quit buying at Walmart. I like their batteries but they only give a free replacement warrenty' they don't prorate. And with online codes I usually get the same quality battle cheaper at advance with $30 off coupons.

No such thing as a "tractor" battery. all you use is a larger capacity which is normal for a diesel anyway, about 650CCA is perfect. your average car battery will be about 440CCA. i always fit the largest battery that will fit in the hole, regardless of it being my Mrs car or my tractors.

I call waly battery's Never Starts they call them Ever Starts they are the worst.

/ Help with new ym226D purchase #33
I have actually had good luck out of them. I had one im my truck for 7 years before it went out and the last few years that truck only got about 3k miles on it so it did not get run much which did not help the batt.

Like i said when they told me once the free period replacement is over you have no warrenty i looked elsewere. I now order them at advance and use a $30 off coupon. So i am getting my $90 battery for $60 or my $100 battery for $70. I have had a few of them for a few years now and like how there holding up. One of them is 1 yr+ old and is a atv battery, starts fine even after sitting for weeks.

Some folks have better luck than others no doubt but invariably I get a car that has a bad battery its a fairly new never start I make the phone call and hear all about how they just put it in....

Inexpensive HF float chargers are the best thing that ever happened to my tractor and atv and lawnmower and motorcycle battery's that need to sit awhile fwtw. my .002

Yep i love those HF "battery tenders" i buy them with the coupon or on sale where there $5. I have one on each boat right now, i need to buy about 3 more for things like a mower (cant keep a battery for more than a year), big truck and maybe ATV.

/ Help with new ym226D purchase #36
Agreed HF coupons are good there is almost nothing better than a $5 battery tender or a bunch of them haha!

Thinking on the " never start" issue. It could just be the sheer volume of ever starts sold. That and couple that with the fact that you fix broken vats u could be getting a large numbers of them failed just by the nature of ur biz?

I have one in the toy that is like 4 Yeats old that replaced a brand new Toyota one pannisonic battery with a bad cell. Have one in Saturn that is about 3 yrs old.

Possibly the volume is a factor I know I see a lot of cars? That and we have a super waly here and times are tough people like getting cheap stuff.

Where as I install a 72 month 2 yr free replacement "whatever it is" brand it is $100-135 to the customer these days due to battery's went waaay up last few years for some reason fwtw.

You know and the other thing is 90% of these folks are the ones who wagged one out in a cart and put it in their self and wont take that waly battery back in for an adjustment and just have me put another brand in. Its so they dont have to mess with them wagging the thing back to the store in another car and all over the parking lot and the store and all that. I wouldn't either that's one big reason I figure see what I do its convenience. The other 10% get a jump and go to the waly tire and battery and get one adjusted?

I didn't read the whole thread to see if anyone has posted a similar response.

Isn't the YM2210 22Hp at the PTO and the YM226 22 gross engine Hp? Seems like this would be a noticable decrease in power to me.

Good question-US sae and Jap spec or euro whatever are different far as I know and as to this tractor I cant say which has more where. 2210 being Jap and 226 being US spec.
