Looking at a 424 that I can buy well worth the money but the lift is not working. The owner, who I know very well, advised that hydraulics was working fine until he had a mechanic do some work where he had to take off hydraulic lines. From what I have read, the hydraulics could be air locked. If so, how do you bleed the system? This tractor is in very good condition and I would have already bought it, but I just don't want to have to dump a lot of money into the hydraulics if it is something else.

Usually cycling the hydraulics will bleed the system. Put the 3 pt. in the lift position, and work a/the remote lever(s) if it has any. I have even nosed my one Super C downhill to get it to pick up prime.

If it was the hydraulic manifold lines to the pump that were removed, could be possible an o-ring was lost too, causing it to suck air.

My 424 has a tee fitting at the flow control block and one of the tee ends there is a cap and I open it to bleed the air out with engine running. Make sure you cover cap with a rag and be ready to shut tractor off because one the oil gets there you can't over the pressure to screw the cap on.
