I purchased a 14 1/2" Giant Vac impeller from Ebay. Then I started pricing 8" vacuum hose and almost fainted! $10.00 to $15.00 per foot. Where can I find cheaper alternatives; maybe used hose.

With the pipe not being smooth would that cause problems?

You could try smooth/dual wall pipe but it probably won't be flexible enough for your use. Worth a look and much cheaper than $10 a foot.

I've tried just about everything for a suction hose on my leaf loaders. Dont waste your time or money. Get the good stuff.

Could you use some round metal duct for the straight parts, and just use the flex duct for elbows and flexing joints.

I looked all around and just bit the bullet and paid the outrageous price. They must lace that stuff for gold or something

I priced a cable to go from the dvr to the tv. Looking at the extremely high price I asked the sales guy if it was lined with gold or something. He said of course, the good ones are all gold lined!

I know the sucker truck vacuum people use that black corrugated stuff. It looks to be only 5-6" but there must be bigger stuf available... and if it works for that kinda abuse it should be find for you...

I found 10 feet of 8 inch hose at Grizzly for $69.00. Its on the way!

Not a bad price. You'll be happy you went with the correct hose. Makes life much easier.
