the i&t manual is real basic.. like 1/4" thick.. the oem manual is over an inch.
bottom line.. chnage the oil, get spark and fuel.
I'd add some atf tot he cyls and roll it around a lil, get new plugs.. clean and gap points ( if it's a maggy.. have fun

)
add new fuel and see where she goes. service air fitler too..

Thanks, Yeah, I saw in an old PDF download that you can add half a pint of oil with the pulgs in. I, in my stumbling acceptance of this "gift" have taken out the plugs and liberaly fogged it down with a can of fogging oil.
I am familiar with spark and fuel, I had a kick azz shop teacher about 30 years ago and it was one of my best subjects ;-)
Heard about hanging a tractor, do you think I need to go to that extent? I hope not cause the trees on my propery will have a hard time with it. ;-)
My worst issue right now is the gas tank. Plan is to take it out and some how clean it up. I am coming to find that spraying it down with carb cleaner is not the right approach.
I can't do anything until I get that gas tank clean. Don't think it would look good with a big plastic jug on top, but I think I konw how to do that.
BTW, that air filter came as a surprise to me, It is an oil can.
Last time I saw this thing was about 20 years ago, maybe more, I was a kid farmer, my grandad died when I was 10 and my aunt and uncle took it over, they quit when I was about 24, give or take 4. Please keep that in mind. I got all the benifits of the farm without the hardships. I loved it. I'm now 46
That said, I want this thing running.
