Several, all used and abused.
I have a Dell computer with Windows XP. When online, I like to have at least five pages open and sometimes allot more. When I open a page, I tend to switch to another page and let that one open or do it's thing. What's happening is when that page opens, it opens over the one I'm reading. Is there a way to lock a page so that when I'm viewing it, no other page will pop up?

Another thing that I hate is when viewing a site like ebay, but this happens in other sites too, is that if my mouse pointer goes over a picture, it pops up into a bigger picture. I hate this and want to turn off this feature. Is there a way to do this?

Thank you,
Eddie

What browser and version are you using?

I know it's Internet Explorer, but I can't find what version it is.

Thanks,
Eddie

Does it have a menu bar with a Help item? If so then click Help...About. That will display the version number.

If no menu bar then it's IE 7.

MicroPilot,

Thanks.

It's Version 7, and to be specific, it says 7.0.5730.13 if that makes any difference.

In your OP are you saying that the tabs switch to the newly loaded page? I don't quite understand the "opens over the page I'm viewing" comment since IE 7 uses tabbed browsing.

As a quick suggestion without getting into too much detail, try opening IE, then click Tools/Internet Options/General/Tabs/Settings/Restore Defaults. This allows tabbed browsing (where each web page opens on a different tab). This is the way I like to run IE 7, except I let Internet Exporer decide how to open a pop-up. Give it a try. There are some other options under Tools/Internet Options/Advanced that will also make some changes.

Use Firefox and you will never look back at IE.

You should do what Chris said and also go to the control panel and check into what your mouse settings are. My laptop's default was to automatically click something if the cursor was over it for a few seconds and I hated that. I just changed the mouse settings.
