Help needed for new Finish Mower Tires.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

I'm fine with smaller diamer tires, and maybe even a slightly larger one. What I think is important is to have as much width as possible. The wider the tire, the more floatation that I'll have.

The problem with the tires is that they are just old. Probably very old. There is no model number on my cutter anyplace. I have a serial number on a metal tag, but that's all I've been able to find. When I ordered new blades, all they needed to know was what size mower it was.

The axle that the wheels ride on is a simple bolt. I can get any size bolt through McMaster Carr, so that's nothing to change axle size.

I've gone through all 16 pages on Tractor Supplie's website without finding a good match. I'll go to the store this week. There is an Atwoods real close to Tractor Supply, so I'll go there too. Probably have better luck at Atwoods anyway.

I did a search on Norther Tool's website, but only found the smaller/thinner tires and lots of wheelbarrow wheels. I don't thing wheelbarrow wheels will work, but don't know for sure.

I'm not in a rush for the tires, I'd just like to take care of it before I need to mow with it again. My 6ft Landpride Rotary cutter is sitting there and I'll use it pretty soon for my really overgrown areas and some rough areas that I would scalp really bad with the finish mower. Does anybody know if a tail wheel off of a rotary cutter will work on a finish mower?

Looking at the pic I bet you could come close with other brands. Looks close to my Woods FM. It has a 10" solid rubber.

I went to Tractor Supply yesterday and didn't see anything that might work. I measured my tires and they are right at 12 inches in diameter. I know they are stamped 13x5.00-6, but maybe it's like lumber. You say one size, but the real size is one smaller? Anyway, the inside distance between the metal to mount the wheel is 6 3/8 inches. I can fudge this a little bigger or smaller.

So far, I'm not seeing anything that I think will both float over the ground, and hold up. Most of the solid wheels that I've seen don't have zirk fittins, or are on platic rims. Allot of them are also very thin, of way too small in diameter.

I might go to Northern Tools store in DFW Sunday if things work out with Steph and her plans for the weekend. There is also an Atwoods in town that I want to check out. They always seem to have allot more selection then Tractor Supply.

Interesting idea. I went to their website and looked around, but didn't see anything, so I moved on. I never thought to actually ask them. Gotta wonder how I get anything done some times. LOL

If you find a wheel that is too thin, but good in other areas, you could mount them as dual wheels.

Now you are talking Dave. Eddie that would be cool looking to! Maybe tough to fab up. I had a spindle that was bent on my Woods, Just a slight bend, but the wheel wouldn't track straight and would dig in sideways. I tried every angle to bend the spindle mount, no luck. Once I replace the spindle, it was fixed. I have some sand in the yard so it was a good fix.

I have a set of solid "hand truck" tires on mine, curly dave stole my suggestion!!!!! I was reading along read what eddie wrote about too thin, thought well get 2 and boltem together. next thing you know there goes dave stealing all the glory!!! Isnt it funny when you concentrate on a problem and a simple answer is right in front of you but you cant see the forrest for the trees.
