Help- MF1010 won't move

I checked the I&T manual....there are 3 hydraulic filters on the hydro unit, and I think you indicated earlier that you had changed all 3 of them. Here's some additional troubleshooting info from the manual:

Tractor will not move or moves erratically:
Trans oil level low
Control linkage improperly adjusted or damaged
Charge pump damaged
Engine clutch or trans input shaft failure
Neutral valve stuck open

Tractor moves, but lacks power:
High pressure relief valve opening pressure set too low
Internal leakage of high pressure oil

Other symptoms listed are Abnormal noise, Failing to stop in neutral, or Oil overheating. I don't think you mentioned any of those, so I didn't type that stuff in. Let me know if you need it.

FYI- the Neutral valve stuck open is very common especially if the oil is dirty and possible with wrong oil. This definitely causes the system to stop.

You will need other input to check this as I don't have the manual.

Tried to get the tractor too move the other day-

- it does have a squeling noise as I work the pedal back and forth.
- does seem to want to move a little more as it gets warm

I bought the Intertech manual and will check the adjustment of the control linkage but the noise and the effect of warmiong up suggests to me that this is a Hydraulic issue.

Manual suggests that the trouble might be with the neutral valve or the relief valve.

Should I try to get at these or is this a dealer job?

Also someone mentioned a suction screen to be cleaned when the filteres are changed. I never found one - did I miss something?

Jerry I wish I knew where it was. I don't have the manual. You may need to ask Big Dean (you have to send him email and has health issues so may be slow to respond) He has CD's for several tractors but not for 1010 but I'll bet he knows.

Needed to restart this thread,,, BUT

I have a new theory.

Still have the same problem,(1010 hydro,4wd,360 hrs), it won't move until the forward/reverse pedal is worked back and forth countless times. It finally gets moving.

Not this week,after a week of sub freezing temps, the back and forth technique does not work. It won't move.

Hydraulics ( FE Loader etc) work fine. HST won't move tractor.

Fluids/filters changed 25 hours ago.

I noticed that situation worsened as the weahter got colder.

Could it be water at a low point in the hydro system that has frozen and blocked a passage/valve.

What could be worked through in warmer temps just wont work now.

New fluid/filters?

Any other ideas?

Hi Gerry,
It may be time to see a dealer. I sent my ideas earlier in the post, back in June I guess, so I'm out of other options for you. My 1010 is a manual trans, but I have read other posts describing failed HST units. Not sure if parts are available or not. But I'd let a dealer diagnose it and go from there.

Thanks for getting back.

It's got only 360 hours, but I'll be calling the dealer.

Any future tractors will be standard trannies.

Whereas one babies there car or motorcyle I think there's a tendency ( especially among rookies like me) to push a tractor until it screams for mercy.

Problem is a standard will probably stall while an HST gets a hernia.

I'll let everybody know how it turns out.

If I were you, I wouldn't rule out another hydro in my future. I just think from what I've read that there were some problems with the MF 1000 series hydros.

Let us all know what the dealer finds. We all learn from these experiences.
