Here's a picture of the brick clip. They work really well and are not that expensive.

I actually called the Brick Grip...As it turns out the mortar was to flush with the edge of the brick.

I tried the wood idea. I took 5 pieces of wood and used liquid nails to go to each corner. One piece in the top middle. Then got 5 screws and washers and attatched the sign to the wood.

Thank you guys so much for the help. I will post pictures of this later

not sure I would have used liquid nails.. but the concept is the same..

In the past my father owned a sign manufacturing business. We used silicone to glue letters and signs to concrete, brick stucco etc... when doing installations. Silicone is very tough once dried, but can be removed easily enough, when you want to take the sign down. Other adhesives such as liquid nails, can be very difficult to clean once dried. One additional suggestion, I know you don't want to drill any holes, however if you drill two holes one at each end in the morter, and silicone in threaded metal bolts (studs) the holes can be easily patched when the sign is removed.
Hope this helps.

yep.. way back at the beginning of the thread i reccomended rtv.. it's easy to remove.. but has decent adhesion till you start peeling it off.

Here's one more idea that may help someone else but might be a bit light duty for the OP's needs.

My fil made up a little coil or helix out of wire. You just leave a little of the wire sticking out from the coil (sort of like a cork screw but wound tighter. You make it slightly larger than the mortar space and squeeze it in between the bricks. Works for hanging light items on brick face, like a Christmas wreath or picture over a brick mantel.
