My DK45S starts and immediately REV at full throtle. Both the foot pedal and steering column throttle are in the min position. The ignition key will not turn off the engine. I have checked all of the throttle cables and lines. There appears to be no physical obvious obstructions causing the problem. The engine can only be shut down by putting the the tractor in the highest gear and stalling it with the brake tied on. If anyone has had this sort of problem please give me information. The tractor is New and only has 70 hrs on it. This has created a very dangerous!!! situation at a project site that nearly killed two people!

To shut it down in an emergency, there must be a fuel shut off on the dashboard. I am not sure about the DK45 but my CK20 has a pull-valve with the picture of a gas pump on it that is a fuel shut off in case of emergency or if the key does not work.

It sounds like the throttle is stuck open at the engine. Even if the cable is free, the trottle at the engine might be stuck open.

Years ago I had several old cab over GMC Titan tractors,,, This would happen ocassionaly with the Detroit 350 engines I ran,, It was always the return spring on the throttle,,, They would get excessively hot, lose the temper and weaken or just snap in half. I owuld start at your pump and look at the throttle rod or cable and how it returns to idle, such as a return spring,. At least this is a simple thing that you can check out without needing a dealer right away.

First of all I don't mean to be harsh here but sometimes it's not the machine that almost kills people it is the operator.
You should know the equipment before you get on it and as an operator you should always have foresight as problems occur at anytime.
So unless your clutch stuck and you had no way of stoping the machine, than I can see how you may have almost killed 2 people.

Sorry and please don't take it in the wrong tone of voice.

I remember when I just got done putting a blower and 2 four barrel carbs on my f150 and my brother and I took it out for a test drive on the main road.
As I sarted out from a stop sign I stuck it to the floor (to show off) and the throttle stuck wide open on a 400 plus hp truck.
The truck started to spin and go sideways asthe only thing I go do is to countersteer it untill I collected my marbles and quickly shut off the key.

What I am getting at is please know and understand everything before you get on it.

Now your problem.....
It sounds like the rack in your injector is stuck open.
Sometimes that can be corrected by taking the top cover off and manualy moving it.
But there had to be a cause for it to stick in the first place, usually contamints in the fuel is enough to do it.

Unless you know what you are doing I wouldn't mess with it.
Call your dealer and have him/her come get it.

Thanks for the information. I have had tractors for 10 years / backhoes etc. UNFORTUNATELY THIS TRACTOR ALMOST KILLED TWO PEOPLE NOT THE OPERATOR. The dealer has identified this a major engineering defect with the new model. You may want to contact any customers that have purchased this model tractor to and let them know there is a serious problem. Couple other things to mention, yes the clutch is sticking also the ignition key does not turn the tractor off, inaddition there is NO emergency shut down on this model tractor.

Has identified what?
What did your dealer say about the problem you are having with the engine reving up?
You also said the clutch was sticking.....
Did you have the tractor back for its first 50 hour service or did you perform this yourself?
Who is your dealer?

Two new threads by first time poster(s) with different names alleging a "major" engineering defect but without specifying what it is?

A runaway engine is a very serious thing and should be taken seriously. Good job getting it to the dealer who can diagnose, repair, and get the machine back to you. Maybe you can get some more information on the cause so that the Kioti owners may keep an eye out for it. When all is fixed, hang around for awhile and tell us how you use the machine.

You much have a pretty good dealer, which him getting the unit to the shop and diagnosing it on Labor Day all before 11 AM.

Tell us what caused all of this.

Something doesn't smell right to me, why is he asking us for help when the dealer has already determined this huge problem. Engine at full speed, clutch won't disengage and engine doesn't turn off with the key. Sounds like a hat trick to me.

My BS meter is rising.

On a better note my CK20HST is running awesome!
