Check your electrical connections on the clutch...look for corrosion on the terminals and the wire to terminal areas. I'm wondering if there is a loss of amperage or voltage that is making the clutch engage slowly, or not fully engage...creating your noise.

I will check the belt tomorrow. If I remember right it has the part number on it.. the deck turns just fine. The big thing is the pto that makes the noise. Because that is also how the old one sounded before I changed it....
This is the belt that John deer gave me. I thought It did feel tight when I first put it on. But now its loose. But that's going off of my memory which isnt all that great ...

Make sure the drive belt from the pto to the deck is routed properly. Twice I had mine hooked over a linkage that runs very close to the belt when I hooked it up was fortunate I didn't shred the belt wish I had the mower here now would send a picture follow the belt with your hand once on the mower easy to miss. Good luck.
