Help Flat tire

Ok, Today i was brushhogging a field and came out of the ditch onto the road to turn around and looked down and water is gushing out of the tire out of the back tire. I stoped it in the middle of the road and looked. It had completly broken the seal. I found a gash about 2inches long and got it semi pluged with about 22 plugs. I managed to get it sealed again and aired up to drive it home.

I then went to the tire shop. They told me that the tire could not be patched and i would have to buy a new one. The price of the new titan tire 12 -16.5NHS 10 ply tracloader tire cost 200 dollars and then charged me another 80 dollars to fill it again with the liqiud.

Did i get ripped off or is this what the tires normally cost.

You did OK...

These ag/industrial type tires aren't cheap by any means.

As far as filling, my dealer charges about $150 or so (more for a full sized tractor), so 80 bucks isn't bad.

That's expensive, but not excessive, if my pricing is right.

Not sure why the fluid charge was so high, but don't know what fluid you put in the tire. You said 'water' came out, but they put liquid back in. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

$200 for a brand new liquid-filled rear tire is a good price in my opinion. I hope it was filled with CaCl or some such mixture, not plain water.

Regardless, I wouldn't complain aboutt that price.

Has been a couple years but I used to work at a Co-op in Tenn. and comparing to their prices then, you got a pretty fair deal. As the other guys noted, that $80 price to fill the tire should have included the methanol, or whatever other antifreeze they use, not just water.
