Hello from Upstate NY. The wife and I are waiting to close on a log cabin w/ 22 acres of which 3/4's of it are wooded. Stopped in to gain some knowledge of what tractor we need. Some gentle hills and wet area of woods with small stream running through it. There will be plenty of snow to move and lawn to cut. Also some field areas to bush hog to keep the trees from growing.Thanks for the insight I learned in the past few days.

I live in a log house...never again!!
They're beautiful, but will require more upkeep..just be advised of that.

Roy House inspector found a couple of holes in the eves and we have talked to the exterminating company about a spray schedule. This is going from 30 years in a 9 room farm house to a 1150 sq ft cabin. Nothing like downsizing and simplifying our lives.

Oh...I don't blame you about the downsizing!! Wifey and I like a smaller house.

Oh just wait brutus54, you start talking tractors and there goes the simplifying. It sounds like anything around 40 horse would be a good start. Loaders are really handy as well as loaded tires. If you plan on blowing the snow, a cab is great. Some tractors have the option of a front blower, which is nice so your not driving around in reverse for an hour or two every time it snows. Enjoy your new place and welcome!
