Hi, I'm a newbie on this forum and I'm from the Ottawa Ontario area. I have been riding a John Deere lawn tractor since 1987, in fact I just sold my old 1987 John Deere 160 which is a 12 hp 5 speed, with the kawasaki engine. She still runs strong, but I felt it was time for something a little stronger. I've replaced it with a new 2011 John Deere D 120, with a 21 hp Briggs & Stratton engine with hydro. I know this is an entry level lawn tractor, but sometimes, less is more, in my case anyway. I really don't need anything more than this for my ｽ acre of lawn. I use it to cut grass and for light gardening, pulling a cart etc. It was on sale at Home Depot for $1199.00 CAD, and I just couldn't pass it up. I only have a few hours on it now, but I'm really enjoying it, especially the hydrostatic tranny. It even comes with cruise control, which I really don't need, but it's on there, so there's not much I can do about it. I know my old 160 had the better engine etc, but the steering was getting to the point where it was becoming a chore to steer. I've had several small engine shops try to make it steer easier, but they said there was nothing more to be done.
Anyway, my neighbor bought it from me, so at least I'll still see her or hear her over the fence once in a while, and I know she's found a good home.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, and if there are other D120 owers out there, I'd love to hear what you have to say about your machine.
