Hello I am Mahesh a Mechanical engineer from India, have started my career working for JCB as sales engg for Backhoe loaders and excavators. Later joined Eicher tractors in Tamilnadu for business development, where i learn a lot about tractor business and its evolution in southern India. Then on I joined Mahindra Tractors, India as a Manager whose responsible for developing tractor implement business which had a portfolio starting from basic implements , attachments, planters, harvesters, etc where I learn about farm mechanization in which launched various implements in a diverse landscape and cultivation methods across southern india. Now I am Heading Marketing and development of Tractors In a company with a wider vision of introducing community farming and mechanization with presenting more efficient and more powerful tractors and implements to Indian farmers at Coimbatore, India.

I have passion in achieving farm prosperity and I believe introduction of Farm Mechanization is the only way to increase Agricultural productivity and make farm prosperous. I hope knowing people like you who made tremendous progress in that would enrich my passion.

Hello Mahesh, and welcome to TBN. Your area around Coimbatore seems somewhat dry and very mild in temperature, similar to the Central American region in latitude, but much drier than Central America. Your average rainfall means that collection of rainfall for irrigation is very important. Your region is not unlike the valleys in California where farming and food production can be very productive if managed properly.

Thanks jim I think you have done nice research about my area, Coimbatore is quite dry it is an industrial area but if u take the states of tamilnadu and kerela they are the rice buckets. The major crops are rice,sugarcane and spices and mostly we depend on the monsoon for water. There are places people still use bullocks for preparation of land for cultivation I think we are still light year behind america on using mechanization in the farm and it is proving to be a necessity In this period with shortage of manpower in agriculture. People here have as low as 1 hectare of land and cultivate different types of crops it proves to be very challenging to get desired agricultural output if the cultivation and harvesting practices change on every hectares of land.
