I am looking for suggestions on getting an old "grain" truck. Jesse's old iron thread is similer to what i am looking for. I need a diesel that just wont quit and can handle a pintle hitch. I would even be happy with a old eletric worker truck. auger a super bonus. any suggestions on where the most reasonable place to nab one might be?

They are usually in the local auto-trader or bargain hunter type papers. Can try Craig's list, but most farmers don't use it.

You can also go to the grain mill and jaw with the guy's there and post a wanted sign.

Around here, they can be found for 1500 on up. The cheap ones are nearly all gas big blocks and well used.

Check out www.truckpaper.com and view their listings. If you intend to use the truck frequently I wouldn't recommend anything older than the early '80's. If you want a good, reliable diesel, get an International with the DT466 diesel with a 6 or 7 speed trans. You can get them at a reasonable price, parts are available and the engine is bulletproof.
