Sams Hoggn,

800 lbs! That's some serious metal. Can't help you with that, but:
There are lots of discussions about box blades under the "attachments" section. You can do a search, or simply look through the pages.

The Land Pride 35 series will meet your weight requirements. While they may be fair priced, they darn sure aren't cheap.

Check out monroetufline.com

I purchased a 72" for my L4610, with beefed up side plates. It weighs between 8 and 900 hundred pounds and delivered to my door it was around $1000.00. The shipping was over $200 because I live in northern MI., so the actual price was in the $800 range.

I've been very happy with it, and the scarifiers have been simple to use and adjust. The LP 35 series were over $2000, and the Gill was up around that range as well.

Do a search and you'll find my thread and comments from 04/2001.

I really feel I got a great deal, and the sales people at the company were very helpful and friendly.

I have a 6 foot Monroe Tufline box blade and am very satisfied with it. Check out the specs on their website.

That's what my boxblade looks like(a little dirtier though), but I had them build it with 3/8" sideplates, instead of the 1/4", wasn't much extra and it added some weight.

You can see how those scarifiers work in the picture-pretty easy. It's a great bargain!

Check out the Woods Box blades. Their Gill brand may well fit your needs. The Gill B20 (72" 707#) / B25 (77" 755#) / B30 (84" 790#) are a bit lighter than what you mentioned, but are very well built (rated for up to 80 HP)

Or step up to the Gill SR20 / SR35 / SR30 Same sizes, but weight ranges from 975# to 1100#. Come with manual retractible scarifier bar, and lockable hinged tailgate. (The SR20HD / SR25HD / SR30HD are similar, but weigh about 50# more and have thicker end plates

All of these are built like TANKS! I bought the lighter duty Woods GB72 (72", 572#, rated for up to 45 HP) for use with my NH TC33D (more or less similar to a JD4300) . It's had some pretty heavy use over the last six months with no damage. The units mentioned above make mine look like a toy.

Just thought I'd pass this on....JD makes a Worksite Pro line of attachments and I've seen a picture of their box blade, its 84" wide, looks heavy duty, and is yellow in color:)!

Jeff,

What model # did you get?

Fred,

Takes me a while to get around to this stuff-sorry about that.

The model # I purchased was the TB272. I had them build the side plates at either 3/8", or 1/2", I think the 3/8" though, and it brought it into at least the 800# range.

Hope that helps, I've been very pleased with it, and again the people were very friendly at monroe, and I feel I got a good deal.

Sam, the heaviest duty boxblades are probably the Gannons. The 4X4 models can go over 2000lbs and are built for industrial equipment. They also have a 4X2 model like mine. It is 72", weighs a mere 1200 pounds, has 5" square pull bars and rippers. Plan on over $2000 for a 4X2 model in the 72" width with hydraulic rippers (8) and floating rear mold board. I also have a Gearmore which I believe is the same as the Command line. They are a close second to Gannon, just smaller hydraulics and a little smaller price. Don't skimp on a light weight box, they are for the most part worth the price you pay but the heavier one will be enormously more useful and bullet proof. The Landpride heavy dutys are also a good bet and a "fair" price.

Why is a heavier box blade more effective?

/ HEAVY DUITY BOX BLADE #16
so the boxblade actually cuts the surface vice bouncing across the top

I use a Land Pride model 3572 back blade with end plates. When the end plates are mounted it does much the same job as a box blade plus having the option of tilt, angle, and offset. Rippers are optional, though I ordered mine without them. Basic weight with the endcaps and hydraulics but no rippers is somewhere above 600#.

Would you mind sharing what your Cammond cost you?

I called a Monroe Tufline dealer yesterday and was quoted $2400 for a TB372 (6' model w/ hydraulic scarifiers, just over 1000lbs). It was quite a bit more than I expected.

Thanks.
