Heat wave in VT!

We hit 43 degrees above zero yesterday! It was incredible watching the snowpack shrink hour by hour. And mud! I actually saw brown mud yesterday! Incredible!

Today is more like it. 12 degrees and sunny! And of course all that mud refroze. Good thing I ran the tractor up and down the muddy road last night. Wife calls it a waste of fuel. I call it providing traction.

Hey Pete, tried the old traction trick but it melted down so far I lost the tracks and now have a skating rink for a driveway. Had to go to the town barn tonight for sand. I'll wait until tomorrow morning to clean up and sand the driveway. Did you get enough wind up your way?

The wind is just now kicking into high gear (8:20pm). Minus ten with 30 knot winds. Not sure what that is in terms of wind chill, but it cuts to the bone!

Gotta fly out to San Diego on business next month. It's really strange visiting California this time of year. Dress in layers and roast in Cal, or dress lightly and freeze on this end. Last time I was out there I found a GREAT deal on flannel sheets. $20 for a really hefty double set in March. Flannel doesn't move well when the temps hit the nineties.

I really don't like trips to big cities. Too crowded. Too impersonal. Not many dogs or trees or unpaved ground. It makes homecoming all the sweeter, though.
