Heat Problem On New B7500?

   / Heat Problem On New B7500? #11
I've done brush hogging in 90 degree temps on a steep hillside in 4WD, and the temp gauge never got very much past the "C". When I completed the mowing, the screen in front of the radiator was completely covered with "stuff". So, your experience sounds unusual to me. I would guess that the thermostat or guage or something is amiss.

BTW - Lucy is also a B7500

While brushcutting and finish mowing over labor day, I found the temperature gauge on my B2910 constantly right on the edge of the red zone. I had never noticed that before. I could even hear gurgling in the radiator. I stopped frequently to cool down and clean the grill. My tractor is currently at the dealer and that is one of the problems I asked him to look at.

Did you clean both grills?

How many hours do you have on yours?

Just curious if I should expect a problem and have it looked
at in advance before winter strikes.

I have a little over 100 hours on my B7500 now and have
not had the overheating problem.

It seems to me a faulty thermostat would explain every thing.

snowman,

It happened at about 175 hours. I had just knocked down acres of tall grass, reeds, and brush and there was lots of debris contantly attaching to the grills. I would clean the outside and inside, but I probably didnt do it frequently enough. Stupidly, I never checked the radiator fluid levels. I hope I didnt puncture the radiator, since I've punctured just about everything else while brush hogging.

I have 2 Kabota tractors. The L355SS was over heating on a regular basis, after checking out air flow, thermostat, and many of the above mentioned potential probabilities it turned out to be a loose fan belt. dont forget the most obvious. Jon

Thanks, eveybody. The dealer picker 'er up midday yesterday, so I should hear the verdict soon.

Interestingly, when I spoke to the on the phone to request service, his first inclination was the thermistat. You have listed many likely possibilities here, and I hope the mechanic will check them ALL!!

As to the screen design, it is unnerving that it clogs up so quickly. Having to stop hourly to clean off a hot screen will become quite tiresome.... :-(

Ok, my tractor came back this afternoon. Dealer fixed a short circuit (???). He ran it for 3 hours in heavy grass, and I ran it for an hour after it came back. It stayed wonderfully cool. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Well, Pks, you are right.....I do need to get more detailed info from my dealer about the cause here. He is honest and took care of this quickly.....but he is a man of few words, lol.
