a short circuit is an electrical problem that will not make your antifreeze boil over. i would bet he is not telling you everything.

One other thing that should be mentioned when cleaning the screen in front of the radiator-- After you pull the screen, look at the radiator and see if there is debris still attached to it. Debris gets caught between the screen and radiator and needs to be blown out (or sucked out) with a shop-vac. Also check out the pull out screen under the battery compartment.

The only time my temp gage goes into the high range is when I have forgotten one of the above items and I mow a lot of high weeds with my mmm.

Dealer found no problems with my thermostat, radiator or fan belts. Did find a hydro leak in the relief valve under the seat and also my vent under the seat all plugged up. Doesnt know that those are related to the overheating.

I guess I will attribute it to hot day, frequently clogged vents, and large mowing loads on the tractor. I was mowing stuff that would constantly bog down the pto and sometimes completely stall the tractor engine. (Additional lesson to me: 22 pto hp is not enough to mow or cut serious vegetation.)

True....an electrical problem will not cause a boilover. After I cleaned of the grills (and yes, there was some stuck to the radiated which I removed), I never had a second boilover. But the temperature gage was registering hot very quickly, even when the tractor had just been started, and was cool to the touch. I think the short was related to the meter...rather than to the cooling system.

But I still need to find our what really was going on.

My 7500 has about 90 hours on it. I mow 5 acres with it and I'm on my second year. Mine always runs cool and I only have to clean out the screens a couple times a summer. I use a rear mower which may explain why I don't have as much problem with grass on the grill. I have however overheated a couple of vehicles. After overheating once the temperature gauges always ran high. I believe it is the same problem. Once an engine is overheated it screws up the sending unit. (Maybe shorting it out) So I think on your 7500 the first time was an overheat due to the clogging of the screens and the heavy use. After that you were just getting false readings because the sending unit was wasted. I just had to throw in my two cents worth. I hadn't been on the board in a while. Take Care.

It's an airflow problem. You cover the grill screen completely and you have little or now air flow. I've sent messages to Kubota twice on my concerns. I don't think one should have to continue to stop mowing to clean dust/seed from the grills.
When bushhogging there is not a problem since the brush is taller brush and not grass.
