Hearing protection

/ Hearing protection #31
I'm happy to say that my wife always wears her ear plugs when she mows the yard!

/ Hearing protection #32
I have an old pair of Klipsch "Custom 3" in ear monitors. They wrap around the back of the ear (wire holder) and are flush with the outer ear. These alone, will help act as an ear plug....the tip on them (they've got a patent on the shape) is somewhat oval in shape. They discovered the ear canal isn't round per se' but oval.

Anyway.... it has a good seal on the ear.

Then, over these, I wear my over ear protection. I used to wear the electronic style that would let a certain frequency through (voices) but they got beat up and were very expensive....I realized I could mate a pair of -30db (I think they use these around the airport?? Peltor brand)

Anyway, I realized I could mate a pair of these over ears with my in ears....and really cut down the chatter.

The thing is for those "safety minded" (as though we are not).... you are simply lowering the over all noise coming into your head....you can still hear it, it's just not as blaring.

I can always tell if I run the mower over a stick... or if the engine is sputtering or if (yuck) I run the mower over a two inch thick black snake and it gets chopped up and tossed around, chunks of it landing in my lap (actually happened).
