Have a dog that eats to fast for it's own good?

One of our kids has dogs that eat fast. They have a puzzle ball that they fill with dog kibble. The dog has to roll it around to get a piece to fall out of the single hole. It extends dinner to about 10 minutes from the 30 seconds it used to take.

If you had six dogs living under the same roof, that could be a hard task at hand if they all had the same eating issue;)

We had one of those he wouldn’t eat from that type of bowl

I could be wrong on that, but their is defiantly a overpopulation of unwanted dogs in the south IMO that I've never experienced living up north.
I believe that you are right. A lot of our shelters bring in dogs from southern states, who need new homes.

Strange how people apply human attributes to animals.

Dogs do not have a single "chewing" tooth. They are all about ripping tearing and getting it down the gullet.

Millions of years of evolution has passed to refine the process. But we humans somehow know better?

Sheesh!

Dogs such as the hunting breeds, with deep barreled chests can get their stomaches twisted around from eating too fast. If it isn’t treated fast, that can be fatal.

I always wonder about people who compare domestic dogs to wild canines. Our pets often live to be 12, 14 or more years old. A wolf or coyote rarely lives much beyond half that age.

In our kids' fast eating dog case, it has nothing to do with applying human attributes....

They gobble down their food then barf it up on the carpet. Hence, the need to slow down their eating.

They will come back to it. Dogs love a warm meal.
