Hi All,

I have a 2004 (I think it is) 4410 ehydro with a 430 loader ...218 hours ...turf tires. Mainly used for snow removal and the odd digging job on our little 5 acres in northern Virginia. Bought it around 2005 with about 50 hours on it from a neighbor who was moving.

We are getting ready to downsize to a smaller piece of property on a lake nearby ...the 4410 is just too big. My goal is a smaller tractor that I can more easily transport between our place and our sons places. I also want the smaller one to have a backhoe for landscaping at the new property.

Any thoughts about how to go about the process of selling the 4410 and buying a smaller ...and, what model would make a good alternative to the 4410? I think I want to stay with JD.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments!

There's always the crazies on CL! I've actually had good luck using it, have them leave a message on your phone, you can pretty well tell the serious callers by their message.

At 218 hrs with a FEL... why not talk to a JD dealership using it as a trade-in? It's a valuable tractor.

A 2000 series would suit, I reckon.

I think you are going to take a financial beating on selling or trading that tractor. It is a really nice machine with very low hours. Probably last decades with the kind of use you have given it.

The specs say it weighs 2990 lbs. That is probably without the FEL which might add another 500-600 lbs. I don't think it is too large for any size of property. My neighbor has one just like it and it is a quality machine.

Personally, I would look into getting the right trailer to make it easy to transport, which will be a whole lot less expensive than selling it and getting a new tractor.

A nice trailer and that tractor would not go over about 5000 lbs. even with implements, and would be easily towed by even a small pickup.

X2 unless you have to get through a 4' wide space this is a great little tractor - keep it. trailers are cheap.

I have a 4410 and my neighbor has a smaller JD of similar vintage. The 4410 is much more functional in my view, yet not too big. I'd get a trailer and keep your tractor.

Reece equipment in Boonsboro, MD has a backhoe to fit your tractor if that helps

Thank you to everyone for their comments ...I am tempted by the smaller footprint tractors, simply based in storage and transport considerations ...but I recognize how great the 4410 is.

I think I need to visit a couple of local dealers and touch and feel to get a sense of what makes sense ...

If you get a trailer to go with any tractor, be sure it is big enough to also haul the biggest car/truck you own. The incremental cost is very low, and this may come in very handy.

I bought a used flat bed for my JD 110 TLB about a year ago, and the very first thing I used it for was to bring a friend's daughter's car over to my place so we could put it in the garage for major repairs. The car was well and truly dead, do we had to pull it up onto the trailer with a come-along, but we got it up, towed it home and fixed in in a warm, dry garage instead of a cold, muddy driveway. Bought a little electric winch after that so no more come-along. The car looked very small and funny on the trailer, but it worked.
