Was bushhogging (actually trailblazing) at the property I hunt on and got a small, old cedar tree wedged underneath the deck, actually between the blades and the deck itself. The trail I'm trying to break through is pretty narrow (in between 8yr old planted pines) and I got in a place where I had to really slow down to carefully maneuver between some pines and the blades picked up this old cedar tree laying on the ground. It got wedged pretty good, so good that it stalled out the motor.


You know I didn't have a hammer or anything with me, neither did I have a way to prop the deck up safely before before working under it. So, I had to drive the 1/2 mile back to my parents house. After propping the deck up in a safe manner I got under it and was able to beat one blade back into it's proper position. Then with the sawzall and the hammer, got the cedar out and the other blade where it should be. No harm, no foul, but I do need to check that slip clutch!!!

My brush cutter has brackets that keep the blades from crossing each other's paths. Of course, I periodically have to replace the brackets, since they take a serious whack every time the blade rebounds from something solid.

It's happend to me finding split firewood in the tall grass. PITA, but life goes on.

The neighbor has a rear cutter - he found about a million miles of old barb wire with his. He also found that the slip clutch worked well and it took him several hours to "salvage" all the wound up wire.
