Has anyone build a safety cage cab? One that's stout and has a good structure overhead for say falling debris like branches and such? I'm still getting the pieces together for my custom cab, and am wondering if I should really build up the top. I'm not in a heavily wooded region now but will be moving to one soon, and thinking safety first.

Do a search for FOPS, there is lots of discussion on this very topic.
It stands for Falling Object Protective Structure

GR Mfg built my FOPS for my Deere 4720, then I had a local welder make me a forestry cage. I need both for using my tree cutter. It was much cheaper then a trip to the ER with a fracture.

Do as I do Turkeyman, create a photo album on Google or any of the other photo sharing sites. I like Google because it's simple, it works, and it isn't loaded down with ads and other superfluous junk.

Yes, we want pictures!

Turkeyman, thanks for the pics. If I knew how to post the pics from an email to this site I would post them for you. Neat set up.

Sincerely, Dirt

Here's mine. Red Rocker was kind enough to send me pics of his, and I modified his ideas to work for me.

The supports are 1 1/2" sq. I bent them with a pipe bender. HF 12 ton. I was surprised that it did the job, but no problem.

The top is heavy alum. Because I had it. There is expanded metal on the rear face, and some on the front. I am going to make up a piece to put on the right side - at times for bush hoggin'. I like to get close to the edges.

The front supports are pinned on, and the rear is attached with the ball connectors such as used on top links. I can fold the whole top back and drive it in the garage if I have to, as shown in the pic. attached.
