Has anyone built a cab for jd 4520

Have any of you guys built a cab for the John Deere 4520. I think this may be my next project. I have seen some impressive builds on here. The biggest concern I have is can I get glass custom made to fit? I would like to curve the glass. Is that possible? Any and all suggestion welcome. Thanks

Did you by chance see the soft cab recently mentioned here (TBN)? Discussed where the "glass" came from. Might be worth a search, or maybe you have already read about it. It fit under a canopy, and am sure it was a Deere.

Sure you could get curved glass... if John Deere stocked it for your application. I don't think one could go out and order it for custom fit. One or a couple pieces would be very costly if you could get it to your specs. Straight tempered glass looks fine for most projects. I bet even this could cost in excess of 500 dollars for the entire cab ( custom cut ) .

find a cab that has the glass you want and buy it and build the cab to use it,

I found a old JD sound guard cab that I mounted on a 4020 a good number of years ago, and is still on the tractor, it was off a 30 series tractor. Not many modifications necessary,

You guys have good ideas. I regret not buying the cab when I bought the tractor. Johndeere said I can't purchase the cab now because it is built with the tractor. I have been thinking about building one for a while and now that I have seen some of your projects I feel Inspired. I have a head start though. For some reason my tractor came with the windshield wiper switch. I just feel it is a shame for that switch to have nothing to do.

I would not buy an old cab to try a refab to fit. Its just like remodeling an old house. Where do you stop? A couple sticks of 2x2 tubing, some thought, sheet metal, and add the glass. Looks factory and much more visibility than the old small window creations.

your talking about a new 4520, I am guessing I was thinking of the 4520 they produced in the 1970's.
