Cali must be talking about paying attention this little notice...the sticker is still on mine

I don't have Frieght stands but would figure they generally wouldn't be any better or worse than what else is available thru wally world or any of the discount auto stores Red Torin or whatever name they are called. Too me all these items are like what I would call 6 of one half dozen of the other

I have 2 sets of the Homier Speedway Series 6 ton along with one of their big floor jacks and some 3 ton Crapsman ones that were gratis (came from a with a floor jack I returned) That dang thing rocked back and forth on the concrete floor and stands aren't really much better

So I can't tell if one brand is truly any better than another one it comes to these jack stands or even the jacks. And I will include any of import impact sockets too with that assessment. ;)

So get the best deal where you can find it I say! :D

Obviously the stand need to be locked in place correctly to use and then once the weight is on because of the design that part never worried me too much....but I always look at the weld where the two halves joined

Yeah. I was fabricating a drawbar and lift rig for a drag-type spike harrow (photo, finished project), and lifted a corner of the harrow by hand while I reached under it and yanked the jackstand to full height. When I set the harrow on it, the stem clearly wasn't vertical. That was only about 80 lbs weight so not lethal but I wouldn't have wanted a harrow spike through my foot. I had hammered the tabs on both jackstands in per instructions before this first use.

I have a 2 post car lift now but before i did when I used jack stands like yours I welded a flat piece of steel to the bottom on all 4 legs. It allowed them to be used on dirt if needed and it makes them a lot stronger since it holds the legs together.

I welded a flat piece of steel to the bottom on all 4 legs.

I have another set around that have the 4 leg point connected by steel strap like that to form a square base. It was the way they were manufactured. They are a sliding tube and double locking pin type.

So I'm sure all you fans must have got NEW HF stuff for Christmas that your going to post about right!

And they are having a big sale RIGHT now

So while still cleaning, assessing and reorganizing my many of my work tools in the garage (even more fun now that I got Milwaukee M12 BT speaker and does that crank the tunes ) I made another realization besides the one..

When will Harbor Frieght start selling a cordless Blue Tooth job site speaker?

It was these hole saw kits. Search results for: 'hole saw kit'

See I have an old one and it only had 5 sizes #36222. I'm bumming now seeing they sell a much kit larger and incudes all the smaller sizes. I sell basically the same thing under my tool tent (don't remember the branded name but sold out of all them too) for even a few bucks more.

I beat the daylights out that 5 pc when building my house The total test was the using 5 inch to cut thru 2x framing plates while running my sewer stack. We smoked it pretty good

Overall it was ok for 1/2 -3/4 soft wood, plywood and sheetrock cutouts.

So has anybody tried the HF Bi Metals hole saws? They are about half the cost of the Blu- Mol kit I have used for many years.

Under the tool tent I had some imported bi metal recip saw bladesfor wicked cheap that worked IMO as good the Lenox brand name I get from my local lumber guy. Only had the short 4 inch though various TPI's but weren't any other lengths.

So NOBODY? wants to fess up to having a Harbor Freight Christmas hey :D

Or maybe you are still assembling and/or modifying what you got?

Ok I seeing that it is still so close to the passing holiday I'll fake it for you then

So I found not just one but four BRAND NEW 7-1-4-quarter-inch-40-tooth-molybdenum-tipped-circular-saw-blades #38535 in my garage workshop buried deep in a 4 ft plywood lockbox I built many years ago for my tool storage.

Santa must had left them there :confused3:

So the online star rating doesn't look too good at all and I have never used any of them before. The positive posts look ok though and one reviewer even used them on hardwoods and was happy. Now the negative reviews well I guess I really don't quite know what to say about cutting wet PT lumber with a 40 tooth blade or wacking LARGE nails as another described :confused2:

So I had to unwrap one and mount it on my old MAKITA 50007NB 7 1/4 saw so I could try it and see for myself if it was good or bad. I have to say I don't use that saw often I almost always just grab my Makita 5620d 6 1/2 cordless saw for most things I need to do.

Now I already had a 36 tooth carbide blade on that workhorse of a saw and I found a slightly used 40 tooth blade (cant read the name on it anymore ) that was taken off probably to save it from some beater job I needed to do.

So I made over dozen cuts swapping out the 3 blades cut some scrap 2X6 framing lumber, 1x6 #2 pine, and some 1x3 utility strapping material. I thought the blade was A-OK generally timing the cuts it was no slower or faster than the other 40 tooth blade and the 36 was just a bit quicker but by no means any of them speed cutting like 16 tooth framer. But the best part was how nice the cut was...no rough edges at all (of course it was brand new).

Dang that was smooth :D
