Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Another one that doesn't suck is the free tape measure sometimes offered. I've got a half dozen of them and they have become my go-to measure because of the clear numbers. Sure they could break at any time so not for important things but for barn or shop use they work great, especially since they're free.
Agree! Never can have enough tape measurers. I have lost count but still have to look too long to grab one in my stable. The more the merrier and free is hard to beat! I think you should be able to see and grab one without having to go to a specific place. Why isn't there an app for this???

Mine seem to grow legs and walk away. I know I have more than I can find but I don't understand where they go. It might have something to do with the pallet phenomenon. :D

Sixdogs, I think you're underrating them! Mine are as accurate as my Stanleys, Lufkins and Tru-Loks. Plus, with the rubberized casing, they can take quite a shock when dropped from a ladder.

We may have to take measures against that.

For the longest time I was struggling using beat up busted tape measures.

I started getting free ones from Menards and now at HF. Life is good. I have a 5x8x36" drawer loaded with tapes of all sizes and shapes and most of them free. I don't think I could build enough stuff to use half of them up.

I probably overdo things but when on a fixed income free goodies from HF puts a smile on my face.

I used to wear out the first two feet of tape measures, they'd get hard to read so I'd put them on the forklift and bobcat when replaced, you generally measure longer things when using those. Don't know if anyone has mentioned, but the HF 50 meter fiberglass tapes are a good value, they are metric on one side and feet on the other, 166 feet IIRC.

Every chance I get, I'm always looking at HF deals. As a Gen mechanic, I don't want to break the bank buying snap on or Mac and etc, I can still have the tools I need.

A few years back Stanley had a $10 off when you spend $50 or more at Lowes coupon on the back of their 25' tape measures. Since I was building a garage at the time and was at the phase where I would spend $60 to $75 for a few supplies once a week I would throw in a tape. The next week I would use the coupon on the back to buy another tape (and coupon) for $8.99. I bet I have about 20 of them sitting around here. I probably would have a bunch of HF tapes (and other free stuff) around if they were close. But at over 3 hours away I just don't get there very often.
