Does anybody know if HF sells 3/8" G70 chain. The biggest I saw on there website was the 5/16". I'll be hauling a Kioti DK45 w/FEL and from reading on here, it seems that the 3/8" is the recommended chain size. The tractor empty weighs @4200lbs then add FEL and maybe getting the tires filled would put it over 6k.

Sorry, my mistake The gold chain color is the color code tip off that it's G70.

Sorry, I can't find the 20' lengths in 3/8" on the HF site.

What I have seen of 3/8" chain in their stores is 14' long G43. They also had bulk chain, but I paid no attention as to what it was.

I bought the 14' long piece and it serves my purpose well.

6000lbs total. I thought that you could easily use 5/16 grade 70 for that weight according to the DOT?

It seems there are an awful lot of people on here that use 3/8", and believe me, I've read through a bunch of posts regarding chains. It seems that 5/16" gets recommended to most of the folks who have tractors weighing 1500 to 2000 pounds less than the one I'm getting so I figured 3/8" might be what most are using for the weight I'll be hauling. If 5/16" is fine, I'll be a lot happier buying that. I doubt I'll be buying at TSC though, I was there today and the 5/16" was 65 bucks for 20' and the 3/8" was 70. If that was the only place I could find it, I'd surely go ahead and get the 3/8".

Duffster will correct me if I'm wrong but the rule is that the chain WLL should be at least half the total weight of the cargo. Working load limit of 5/16 grade 70 chain is about 4700 lbs so 5/16 grade 70 is acceptable to a load weight of 9400 lbs. Certainly plenty for a load of 6000 lbs.

That price at Harbor Freight is outrageous! The same chain at Talco is $28.95 for American made 5/16 G70! A number of people like the 5/16 better than 3/8 because it's easier to handle, load permitting of course!
