Hand Throttle

My hand throttle won't stay in place when over half way up it always
jumps back under 1/2 throttle is there some thing I need to adjust or
replace?

The model would be of great help.
Vintage Fords have a friction disc on the throttle that can be snugged up, or replaced if worn out.

ditto that.. we need to know what ford you have to give you specific advise.

throttle on the 9n/2n was different thant he 8n, and then from the naa thru the early 000 series.. etc.

My tractor is a 1947 8N, hope this helps Soundguy an Jbrink64 let me know if you need more info. That would be sweet if all I had to do was tightin some thing up.

the 8n uses a ridged quadrant plate on the dash and an arm with a steel bearing ball crimped into the bar that runs across the quadrant.

it usually gets a flat spot onit. cheap fix is to spread bar with a screwdriver, rotate ball to a round spot and recrimp. if a groove is worn into the dash plate.. weld up and grind to fit.. or replace.

also there is a tension spring at the base of the hand throttle rod.

Ditto that. Also make sure the tension spring isn't rusted to the throttle rod-it needs to pull the throttle lever down against the quadrant.
