Had to Beef-Up my TSC CarryAll Frame

I guess I went over one to many bumps carrying 1/3 cord loads like this and bent the angle at a lift pin.



For a $119 carry all frame the you can't beat the TSC unit. It will take the weight on smooth going but bumps are a killer. We had a rainy day last week so I straightened the angle and made a couple gusset plates (??).



Yesterday I welded them on the CarryAll.





I think I made the lift pins a lot stronger so I wonder where the weak point is now

I like it. No whining about how flimsy it was built. No telling how many "G's" were applied going over bumps.

Why not a FULL LOAD in the bucket?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I think the weak point is that the lift pins are on angle iron. Square or rectangular tube would be a lot stronger.

Nice job! To answer your weak point question, it will be where the welds meet the angle, AKA stress risers. Just keep an eye on them for cracking.

Thanks guys for the knowledgeable input. I am just trying to understand if what I did was a reasonable way to add strength to the simple pin arrangement w/o making them any wider apart.

You definitely improved it and strengthened it with the gussets. But I think the whole angle iron upright is the next weak point that will twist. It may be perfectly adequate as you have fixed it but you asked for the next weak point and that's where I think it is. Note, heavier duty equipment usually uses a through pin between two supports instead of an unsupported lift pin.

No matter how much you beef something up, there will always be a "next weak point"
