Does collusion or antitrust come into play if the dealerships have the same owner? I wouldn’t think so. Here a couple of families own several Kubota and Deere dealerships in the area.

I went to my Jd dealer today to buy a tractor. Unfortunately the sales guy I got the quote from wasn’t there. Different sales guy meets me I tell him I’m looking at a1025r. He says I’m working up a quote right now for someone else. He says tractor loader mower for 18,500. I’m thinking ( to myself) cool $200 less than first quote. I asked him to answer a couple of question I had , he did so but I started getting the vibe I was annoying him. So I said let’s go inside and do it up. He sits down starts on paperwork. Meantime the guy he shares an office with is calling someone in management. I hear his side of the conversation only but basically he’s making sure not to undercut a sister dealer and making them aware of what he priced a tractor to customer. My sales guy finishes up and writes $19000 on a post it note and slides it over to me. I ask him what’s this he says that’s your quote plus tax. I in formed him I already had a quote from here and reminded him he said 18,500 in parking lot. He claims the 18, 500 was for a 54 inch deck. Anyway it turned me sour so I’m off to look more.
Be honest up front with them, and not sneak into asking another salesman to give you a number.. each likely have their own quota's to meet and their commission comes only from sales.
Put yourself in their shoes.. and think how it might feel to have a customer trying to trick you...

Back in the 90s many Mississippi residents were crossing into Tennessee to buy ATVs to save money on taxes. MS dealers complained to the state and MS auditors checked the TN dealers books. Lots of folks got bills for the unpaid taxes plus penalties.
Interesting. I wonder under what authority MS auditors could check TN books? There was a similar situation between MA and NH. There is no sales tax in NH so many people from MA drive to NH to shop. MA DOR wanted to audit Town Fair Tire books in NH. In the end, courts told MA to take a hike.

People from ME, MA, RI, and VT spend major dollars in NH every day!

The Courts actually stood up to the Deep State? Amazing.

We have no Income Tax in Florida, our property taxes are reasonable. So people are moving here by the boat-load. Which annoys me to no end. I'd move if I could.

Our infrastructure is over-loaded. Our roads are good but super-crowded, our schools (some of them have to put big Mobile Home-like structures up as classrooms), our hospitals and Doctors, our Super Markets and Restaurants. And we don't always get the cream of the crop, person-wise. We get a lot, REALLY a lot, of losers, criminals, druggies, homeless and other low-lifes escaping the North. So that taxes our Law Enforcement Agencies, too.

And it's only going to get worse.

All that said, with the multi-billion dollar hurricanes we get every few years that FEMA barely helps with, we're still the most fiscally sound State in the Union. Look it up.

All that with the lowest (or some of the lowest) taxes in the Country.

Why is that? Why is it that so many States tax their people half to death and are still broke every year? And have the worst roads, the worst infrastructure, the worst -- Everything. Where's all that money going? Some of the highest-paid people on Earth live and pay taxes in those States and they STAY broke.

If it takes you more than 5 seconds to figure it out, you're hopelessly retarded.

Try a Kioti ! South Koreans are clever, solid manufacturers, and the price is right. I've owned four and haven't been sorry yet.

I hear what you mean and agree with you. In this instance I asked for the salesman that gave me the original quote up front and made the receptionist aware that I had spoken with him a few times already. He was out for a few days she said and then she walked to get a sales guy for me. I didn’t ask the new guy for a price. I simply said I was looking at 1025 R. He offered the price without me asking stating he was already working on a quote for someone else. I really expected the receptionist to share information with new sales guy as I shared with her.

I spent 5 months in FLA last year on a construction project; I was more than thrilled to leave. Ya'll can have that state. I'll pay higher taxes any day.

We can thank our Florida governors for doing a great job!
