Is there any up-side to installing the high tensile wire in an X instead of just in the one direction angled up toward the direction of pull.

Is there any up-side to installing the high tensile wire in an X instead of just in the one direction angled up toward the direction of pull.

The X braces are midway along a long fence section, not at the corners. You only need to brace against the direction of wire pull. But in the case of a midway brace, the wires pull on the brace from both directions. That is why these are constructed with wires bracing in both directions.

On high tensile the only pull is on the corners and dips, its left loose on each post so it will slide length ways.
