I have a GT275 that was running fine. Only problem was dead battery. Then the blade clutch bolt broke (again). I ordered the bolt and put it on. I could crank the mower but could not get the blade clutch to engage. I found some info that said the clutch has to have 12v to engage. I replaced the battery with a new one. It cranked fine and the blade clutch engaged. I cut about an acre of grass. I started on the remaining 3 acres and the blades would disengage. I would push in the blade switch and wait a few seconds and pull it out again and the clutch would engage again. This on and off for the clutch went on for about an hour. I was cutting a thick patch of grass and the mower went dead. When I tried to crank it I got nothing. Even the dash panel lights would not come on when the key was turned to the on position. The first thought that came to mind was a fuse. But with the blade clutch needing 12v to stay engaged and the problems I had with the blades cutting of and the reengaging when I reset the engage switch it would seem that if this was a fuse it would not allow me to restart the blades. I tested the power from the battery to the starter and got 12v and I checked continuity from the negative terminal to ground and it was good.

Any suggestions?

first place I would check is the switch on the elec PTO. The ignition switches go bad on occasion as well. You can test by jumping a wire from the battery to the starter, but be super careful doing it.
