GT2550 runs 100 feet then stops

My Cub Cadet GT2550 with Kohler Command engine starts, revs up nicely, runs with power for 100 feet, then engine dies. Just goes pooohhh then stops, at times goes BANG! then stops. Any ideas?? It restarts easily, then does the same thing. Will restart again, then do the same thing. New gas, with ethanol, 125 hours on engine. Regular oil changes. [ Before you blame the ethanol, every thing on the farm uses ethanol gas, lots of Kohler engines, Stihl engines, Farmall engines, Chevy trucks. Never a PROBLEM. ]

Could be a fuel supply problem:

1. Trash restricting the outlet at the tank
2. Partially clogged fuel filter.
3. You've got low hours, but on one of mine, the OEM molded 90-degree hose from the steel fuel line to the carb had disintegrated internally and was clogging itself.
4. Somehow float level is set too low or a piece of trash in the seat.

chk for plugged vent on yer fuel tank cap....

FWIW - my GT2550 had a wired in the harness that was grounding out and would kill the engine. I had no idea what it was, changed the gas filter and lines, cleaned the carb, cleaned then changed the fuel cap. Finally took it to my dealer who found the issue with the wiring, corrected it and didn't charge me (it was just out of warranty by about 3 months)
