GT2544 Engine running bad when cold??

I have a new GT2544 with about 6 hours on it. Love it so far, but noticed during the last hour or two of use that when the engine is started from being cold, it runs for about 10 seconds and then dies. I'm using the choke to start obvioiusly and have the throttle set at 3/4. Any idea why the engine would stop running after about seconds? I'm not playing with the throttle during this time, and only am pushing the choke in slowly after it starts. Is this my ignorance in starting procedures or maybe a fuel flow problem (filters).

any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated.

Have two hours on our 5244. On ours pulling the choke when cold tends to load up and quit. Pumping the throttle a couple of times without the choke seems to do the trick. Did you figure out how to mount a trailer ball? Looking for an easy way without drilling out plate.

Mine is a little erratic for the first 20 seconds or so on a cold start as well (less than 60degF amb temps) I've found leaving it a part to 1/2 throttle & feathering the choke keeps her running. Once that 20sec is over, she's smooth. I've only got about 3hrs on my 2544. Rain, rain, rain....

Yeah, about half to 3/4 throttle and feather choke back in. You shoudn't push the choke back in all at once, just feather it in letting the motor stay smooth the whole way.

Just like any engine manufactured.. Kohler engines are cold natured.

Start: Pull the choke, adjust throttle to 1/4 to 1/2.

Start it... once it starts push the choke back in and give it gas and keep it running.

You don't use the choke to keep it running.

Let the engine run 1 to 3 mins till it reaches its operating temp.

then adjust it to full throttle and do your work...
