We put over 1,000 hours on our L-3130 GST tranny with no problems, just be sure to use SUDT hydraulic fluids exclusively.

Dealer #1 will deliver for free, but Dealer #2 will allow me to sell my Kubota L-175 on his lot for a 10% consignment fee ( will save me a lot of headaches of selling myself).

Have you thought about keeping the L175, two different size tractors come in handy at times. That is is unless you need to sell one to help finance the other.

Gone2dawgs,
That makes me feel good comparing your prices to mine. How much did the FEL add to your price? Also, I'm talking about a 2wd, gear tranny L3130. Is this the same as what you are pricing? Just want to make sure we are talking about the same tractor.

The price of $16,400 was for a 4WD with the 66 inch FEL, and manual trans (DT, not the GST or HST). I have no idea how much the 4WD vs. 2WD adds, or the FEL. Around where I live, all tractors are 4WD and the dealers automatically put the loader on.

Hmmmm....2WD. Better look into getting the rears loaded as part of the initial deal...or maybe some rear wheel weights. At least consider 4WD if your budget can at all afford it.

Of course I could be biased. Just spent the last two afternoons flailing about in the snow in 4WD. Couldn't have gotten much done with 2WD. Same thing a couple weeks ago, 'cept it was mud.

Used to think 2WD was good enough for anyone. Wouldn't be without 4WD now.

I paid 18,200 for a GST 3130 4wd with 723 loader and 6 foot bucket. I'm happy.

I have not been able to sleep at night wondering to buy the L3130 or save $2,100 and go with the L2800 ($16,400 vs. $14,300; 4WD, ag tires, FEL, tires filled, with rebates and my best bargining). The L3130 has a 66 inch FEL instead of the 60 inch on the L2800. Both are with maual transmission. The dealer tells me the L2800 can be a pain when bushoging since the PTO stops when you put the clutch in. The L3130 does not stop the PTO with the clutch in. Besides that, there is another 800 lbs. on the L3130 which should help in traction and pulling stuff. I think in a few years, the extra $2100 will be forgotten. After driving the L3130 today, it was pure heaven. I think the decision will be made after I find out which has a lower center of gravity. With my hills, this has to be factored in. I am very frustrated in my lack of getting any technical information about CG and when it will roll. Being a pilot of small planes, I can not believe this information is not available. It is fundamental to safety both in planes and tractors. OK, I am finished rambling.

g2d, If you think this is agony, imaging buying the 2800 and having little regrets everytime you use it. With each passing year the $2100 will mean less and less and you will wonder why you didn't get the 3130.

And we haven't talked about getting most of the $2100 back when you sell or trade up. Which tractor will you feel better about climbing on for a day's work? Which tractor will have worked you less after a day's work?

From a CFI's viewpoint, the tractor CG question is confusing things for you. With either tractor you will keep a bank safety margin such that a bump from a hidden rock, log, etc doesn't turn you into a two wheeler or worse.

I just got a toothbar for my Bucket on the 723 loader and the inside measurement was 70 1/2 inches.

I have the L2800HST and couldn't be happier, it fits my property perfectly.
If I had bigger property or wider open spaces then a grand L would be in my barn.
The Grand Ls are much nicer and more comfortable hands down, you will not be happy since you have the choice and you have already sit in a Grand L.
I would recommend the Grand L for your situation.
