Hello!

New member here, New tractor owner as of three days ago (I am the “new“ - the tractor is older than me), hopefully I will be able to find a lot of answers to questions with (SEARCH) instead of asking questions that have already been asked & answered multiple times...

Last night, we went out and bought some new 5 gallon diesel jugs, because I hadn’t planned on getting a diesel, but it was just too nice to pass up at the price point. I fully expected to start off with an 8N or similar.

Along with the jugs, an assortment of lynch pins, and hair pins, and roll pins, and PTO pins (someday..) rounded out the shopping list.

This weekend, I plan on yanking the Ferguson P-AO-20 disc plow out of the weeds in the windbreak and seeing if any of the bearing will turn - i Didn’t even know if it was on the plow or not until I proved the dirt with a piece of rebar.

Anywho, I hope I don’t make too much of a pest of myself here. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Nice tractor. Welcome to TBN. You will find some knowledgeable and helpful people here.
You also will be glad that you didn't get the 8N. They were real work horses in their time but your Case will be a much more versatile machine. Tractor technology came a long ways in the decade or so between the two models.

Just went and filled three cans. I just love the feeling of purchasing thirty dollars worth of diesel. . . And spending $76 dollars for the privilege. . .

Thank you! The biggest attraction of the 8N for me (aside from the iconic piece of American history that it is) is that my mother’s neighbor is a big Model A and Model T collector (he drives a Phonebooth T regularly as a grocery-getter!) and I would have access to all sorts of engine parts. But I am very happy with the Case purchase and hope to have it out for “familiarization” over the weekend, weather permitting...

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Enjoy the site.
Thank you!

how are you guys doing down there these days? It looked a little crazy from here for a while...

Well Mate, it all depends on where, on this continent/country, you're asking about? ;)

It's lovely down here in Tassie... not so much in North East NSW or South East QLD with heavy rains to the point of severe flooding. Yet, only a couple of years ago, they were experiencing crippling drought. It's the way of the place.

Fascinating country you have there. Way back in the early 60’s before I was born, my parents considered emigrating there, but it never happened. They wanted to go to Coober Pedy. They stayed in New Jersey, another land fabled in song and story. . . (Gah!)

now, we have moved out of urban sprawl and decay to the Great Smoky Mountains, and are working on drastically decreasing our level of dependence on the traditional supply chains. So being here is a part of a crash-course in completely new-to-us topics.

And being able to ask dumb questions to people with real world experience is better than any book!
