No sure if this a RR or a boat post... Photo taken April 7th 1941 at Marquette MI upper harbor ore dock. World War 2 was raging, and iron ore for steel was a priority. I had never seen three boats like this at the dock. Pretty cool even with the trees getting in the way!

Here's another view of the Anderson's subzero trip to Fraser Shipyards in Superior last week for winter docking. Once again, we see tug Helen H. (1967) giving ice breaking assistance. Heritage Marine's owner wants to sell his tugs and business, so this may have been the last of their operations. They are one of the last small-scale, family-owned towing businesses left on the lakes (January 18th, 2024). That is quite a nice photo he took.

A dated photo. Been over this bridge 100's of times but my photos are never any good.

How those things take a beating along the waterline. What’s that from scrubbing along the locks and on that blunt nose crashing through ice. I grew up on the St. Lawrence used to go on see them all the time in the 60s and 70s. I never recall, seeing that much paint knocked off most of them in those days . Maybe I just didn’t pay much attention to it. How often do they repaint those?
