There's always 3 hanging on a nail inside the shop door and every tractor has one stuffed behind the seat somewhere !

I hang mine from nails in side a shed and let them drool all they want.

Mine sit on the floor of the truck and tractor as there isn't a toolbox sized right for them but they also get an old sport sock slid over them. Catches some drool and means there is at least a rag for my hand always on the gun. Try to keep a second rag over the tip but lose it often, roll of kim towels is in the cab usually too so use them.
