Grease gun storage

Just wondering what the fine folks here on TBN are doing for grease gun storage and drool.

Currently keep mine laying around on a baking sheet and wipe them down occasionally but thought there would be someone on here with a better way.

A large zip lock bag and disposable gloves when I use it. It's still a big mess.

I just keep mine in a little plastic (tub?) or whatever you call one barely long enough for the grease gun.

i have a 15 gal metal barrel that i have them all hung around the edge of, probably has 10 or 12 grease guns but could fit more im sure. hang them handle out so the grease drippings go in the barrel of course. i suppose a 5 gal pail would work too, just the taller 15 gal pail is easier to not bend over to grab them. i suppose if ya had just one grease gun as some folks do you could simply use a short length of pvc pipe with a cap on the end and strap it to the wall or whatever to hold the gun in when not in use

Interesting - My grease gun doesn't drool. I use a cartridge style I bought at Lowe's HIW.

I use TRC grease. It doesn't "drool". I just hang them from hooks for storage purposes.

i use a walmart bag or something similar...

when it gets too nasty i throw it away and get another.

Mine stays in a paper grocery sack, on the concrete, under the bench. I am just guessing, but I think the concrete floor is cool enough that the Lithium grease does not drool much at all. I have been using the same sack for several years.

My gun doesn't drool, either. I just hang it on a nail. For those (the majority?) whose guns drool, does it expand out the hose or does it leak from the gun body itself?

Mine used to drool when I bought the cheap econo grease. Decided that with thousands invested in equipment that some extra dimes for grease might be a good idea. Drool problem solved. Just in case though, I hang it over my bucket of floor dri.

Mine used to drool all the time. Now I just remove the pressure from the grease by pulling the rod on the end back until the spring is no longer pushing on it. Then I just hang it with grease tip pointing down.

I use a little contraption I ordered from Gempler's. It's just a plastic holder but keeps things a little more organized and does the job.

I hang mine in pvc pipes on the wall with a cap on the bottom. When I travel I just throw them in a plastic bag.

I have also put 2 old socks over them. It soaks up the grease for a year or so then just go get another pair of old socks and slide them on and dispose of the old ones.

some times that cheap amber colored greese will separate and leak, but the pressure does not push any or a few dabs in the last 2 years. I hang the handle over a angle braceing on the side of my metal shop shelves and the hose either flaps onto the metal workbench or flops to the side in the air. This is all under an open shed so the table gets wind blown rain on it, so i dont mind spilled oil or grees or fuel mix on it i just wipe it up, it helps keep the rust down on the table.

I store mine on the rear of my tractor. I figured that if I have it with me on the tractor, I am more apt to use it. It's been on there for about 2 months now, 67 hours of bush hogging, and I am still pleased with it's chosen location.

In my opinion, the first thing to do with a new grease gun is just to take about half a tube of grease and slather it all over the outside of the thing and get it over with, since is seems like they look like that anyway.

Mine doesn't really leak or anything but it stills is pretty messy. I hang mine on a hook on the wall. The inside of my garage is hung with OSB that I painted white, and the area near where I hang my grease gun has kind of a grease spot on the wall.

yes.

mine comes out the end, out of the pump seals, from the back where the sliding rod goes in, and from the pump to body seal.

They can put a man on the moon; but they can't keep a grease gun from drooling.

It seems they all do it regardless of gun price and quality. Some good ideas mentioned here on how to deal with the mess.
