Grease Fittings Not Taking Grease

The small amount of dirt that might be forced into a bearing with a rejuvanator or whatever the name of the tool you use to clear a plugged Zerk can be flushed out with a generous applicationof grease. Many times it isn't just the fitting that is clogged but the internal channels in the shaft or bushing as well. Replacing the fitting won't solve that problem but the hydraulic action of the tool will.

I've also had good luck removing the zerk and using a small drill bit to clean out the passage. Pump some grease through the zerk while it is off to clear it.
