Around here crushed limestone and recycled asphalt is commonly used for driveways. Gravel is more of a decorative stone.

All our quarries use 3/4" as the cut off up here, not 5/8. 3/4"-MINUS would mean everything that passes through the 3/4" screen, but you can get it with fines (21A) or clean/washed.

Never seen "57" up here. But I like those prices from kentucky! Ouch, our gravel is all $30+/ton up here. RIP OFF!

If we did make things silly and complicated our country would be as boring as some foreign countrys over the pond😁

I always ask for gravel that meets State Highway Specifications, as that was always what we had to use for electrical construction jobs under roadways. Compacts evenly (90% compaction was achieved with less work) and makes a better road base.
I thought it was odd that there was not a national standard on naming rock size.

Here you can get any size you want. From lime dust to boulders. There is even variations in the groups to choose from that isnt listed. I get the DGA with more dust to build a pad versus the hiway grade DGA.
Their trash rock comes in two grades, the fines which is dust and granules and the large which can have very large rocks in it.
No restrictions on who can purchase. You will see everything from a Subaru with a trailer up to triaxles.

Seems like it changes hauler to hauler around here. Some places use the size minus and some use a "number" system....
