Grapple

Moemoe,

Nice job on the grapple. One more little addition you might want to think about is adding a brace to the bracket holding the back of the ram. Maybe you already have one on there, I couldn't see the back from the pictures you posted. I found with the one I had built that there is a lot of stress in that area. I just broke mine. I was picking and loading wood. The height of the rear bracket leaves it prone to problems. A quick brace will do the trick for you.

Thanks for mentioning the brace. I found after moving about 3 logs it did start to bend ( weakest link) So I did add a brace from the bracket to the where the grapple is pinned to the tubing. I don't think you can see it in the pictures. Anyway no problems since, and I have moved about 50 logs since some alot bigger than in the picture but needed to add balast to the rear end.

Moe,

Looks great, I bought a two arm grapple and tooth bar because I'am not set up yet for welding.

Have you regretted going with a single cylinder? Have you used it with the tooth bar yet? Been worried if my set up is going to handle the medium cedars I need to stack.

Grapple came with a 6" cylinder but I am thinking I will need a 8" the grapple is 32".

I'm curious to see if you need to move one of the teeth on the tooth-bar. In my case the center lift arm on the grapple interfered with the center tooth so I repositioned it a bit to the side of dead center..
