grapple

My next dilemma is one thumb or two thumbs? I thinking one thumb might be better at picking up stumps since I would want a good size stump centered on the grapple. A two thumb flat bottom grapple would have the clamping force either side of the stump instead of the center.

What were I do I don't want to become all thumbs!!!

Forgot to mention....check out the weight of the grapple you want to buy and what you're going to balance with off your back end. I was recommended the Anbo GR-S which I purchased and was told that it was heavy (860 lbs) for the Kubota 5740 I'm running...but the advantage is that the weight and mass it has to dig stuff up is great. Teeth can be ordered at 6/12/or 18" when ordered. Other models are half as light.
Be careful on the weight as most of us have snagged a root that didn't give way and lifted up the rear end.

I'd argue that the weight of the tractor is more important in digging and that a lighter grapple leaves more net lift capacity. I've never had trouble getting anything into the grapple that fits in at least one orientation between the jaws.

On one versus two upper jaws I'd go with one every time. Lighter. Central. Never found a situation in five years of grapple ownership when I wished I had two.

I'm leaning more toward "IT" (Inland Tractor) statements or points. I know since the rear tires were loaded on my tractor several functions have improved. For example: I rarely use 4 wheel drive any more. Loam pile insertion is much better, no problem filling the bucket to the max. Root ripping with the box blade's scarifiers down seem to work much better, less tire spin. Hooking a large root with the FEL bucket does not result in the horse trying to throw the operator. Overall the tractor feels and functions much better. Approximately 1100 lbs was add to the rear by loading the tires.
