I put the third function on my new 4040 it was easy and it has the button on the new handle. I bought a root grapple. It works great. Then I went and got a stump grapple that thing is awesome. a little hard to see with the hood in the way but I am getting use to it.

and the LS Dealer installed a 3rd function and yes there is a thumb button on the joystick ?

Is this an LS OEM joystick?
