Grab Hooks

Picked up a couple cheap grab hooks from the local parts store the other day. Have a friend cutting 2 3"x6" 1/4" thick back plates for the hooks. For now there is no back bracing at all so I won't be using them for now till I get the plates drilled and bolted on. Anyone know where to buy weld on chain grab hooks off the internet?

Here a couple links. you can also grind, saw or cut off the ones you can buy in the hardware store to have a flat surface to weld on.

Don't be afraid to just type into yahoo search what your looking for. Its fairly easy to 'search" out what you need.

I got my weld on grabhooks at AW Direct (2nd address in the post above).
They are inexpensive, ship promptly and they are good.

BIG Thanks for the URL's. I swear I tried a Google for weld on grab hooks and just plain grab hoks and found nothing but other then what I just bought. LOL

Those would be slip hooks, I also used the AW direct grab hooks and welded them to the outside edge to take advantage of the strength there. I have a pic in the photo section that for some reason I can't attach here.

When you are using chain hooks and there are people working in close proximity to them when they are loaded, which would you want?

Most chain binders that you buy that are sized for 3/8" are labeled 3/8 and 5/16 . The 3/8" grab hook is sized to handle either chain.

I would weld on 3/8" grab hooks and then you can use either size chain with your FEL.

I would want gr 70 5/16" chain min. If doin a lot of overhead lifting then I would use gr100.
