My 54” GR2120 diesel garden mower always leaves about a 2” strip. I’ve put new blades on it. I disassembled and used an indicator to confirm no bent spindle. I checked the deck for distortion. All good. So my question; granted the drive pulleys are all the same diameter so is there a specific orientation that the blades should be installed at. Thus so during rotation they would overlap? I can’t find it in my near useless operators manual. Thanks for your help. I’m jim in Franklin, TN….

Several possibilities, none very obvious. Might have bent guides under the deck that are there to guide flow around/among the blades. If bent, one of those guides MIGHT cause a strip of uncut grass (?) Second, are the blades solidly in place so they will not turn or be loose on the shafts? I once had blades on but not tight/solid and I was getting an uncut strip because of it. I still do not understand why but that did happen.

To my knowledge, just info, they DO NOT depend on rotational position to insure some overlap. No specific installation orientation angle is required. At least all mine on other Kubota mowers (60" decks in B2150 and on BX2200) are offset a little front-to-back which allows them to overlap each other's cutting path left-right without clashing into each other and installation angles do not matter.

Another partial possibility is an anti-scalp roller might be rolling the grass down too strongly in front of the deck and the 2" strip of grass might not be standing upright in order to be cut.

Other than those things, I'm dry of possibilities. Good luck. Let us know what your solution turns out to be.

Are you sure the new blades are the same length as the old ones?

Man, that is a great question! If the blades were each an inch shorter than the originals -- that would do it.

Thanks you guys. The blades are the absolute correct ones. After reading your notes…I think if may very well be the anti scalp roller.
