Gravel has moved to the edges of my road because of my land plane skills being ineffective.

I tried using the front bucket to pull things back towards the middle so I could spread again using my land plane but that is a huge time waster for me. Back and forth, at an angle trying pull material towards the center. I have got about a half mile of road to deal with.

I was thinking of buying a drag blade but the units at TSC seemed a little light weight. I do not need a big heavy attachment but I do not like the lightweights I have been seeing. I am not sure what would be the best attachment for the job. I had thought the land plane would pull material in for me but I am not having any luck pulling material to the center while traveling in a straight line.

Who has dealt with this problem already?

I've carefully watched many landplane videos, looking for ideas for my build. There is little to no gravel movement sideways. The angle is too small. I think I'll make mine with a straight blade.

Anyway, a rear blade or a rake, at about a 45 degree angle, would work to move gravel to the center. Gauge wheels will help. Then use your landplane.

Watch for a used blade or rake. Look in Craigslist in both the "farm+garden" and "heavy equipment." (Some people seem to think that "heavy equipment" means anything they can't lift.)

I've got a light weight blade that I pull behind my B7200 for cleaning debris off concrete and light grading work. I think a heavier blade would work good for moving gravel back to the center.

Yes, either a Landscape Rake or a Rear/Angle Blade. I prefer a Landscape Rake for gravel.

Buy sufficiently wide so the implement covers your tire width WHEN IT IS IN ITS ANGLED OPERATING POSITION. Usually this is about 12" wider than rear tire spread.

In all ground contact work, weight is your friend.

everytfhingattachments.com makes a particularly good Landscape Rake.

I have a York rake and a medium duty rear blade;the rake will do a better job on uneven ground pulling gravel back on the road way.

Land planes are for folks who do not want a crown on their driveway.
They like a flat driveway, and their gravel migrates beyond the edge of the traveled surface.
Eventually, they need to order more gravel, and the migration begins anew.
Frequent puddles are also a side benefit from using a land plane (flat).

Tractor Data shows your Kubota width as 74.5".
You would be well served to purchase a 96" rear blade.

Here is what I think is currently the very best deal on a 96" blade.

King Kutter Pro (PRB 96)
$579.99 from Blain's Farm & Fleet - they only have 5 left - apparently they buy lot quantities.
Shipping ( I picked ZIP 70123 -New Orleans area) $140.05
No sales tax!
Total delivered to your door - $720.04

I have 4 King Kutter implements, (60" tiller, 60" box blade, 84" back blade, 60" brush cutter, and am pleased with all of them.
My back blade is 26" wider (13" each side) than my Ford 1920 wheel track, and can be offset another 15" as well. I have significant ditches on both sides of my driveway, so I must keep my wheels away from the driveway edges, or ...over I will go!
I loose NO gravel off the sides of my driveway, by using a 45 degree blade angle,
and .......I love LOTS of crown (never puddles)!

KK paint quality is only fair at best, but KK implements are heavy, and solidly constructed.

The blades sold at TSC are cheaply constructed, (Tarter Gate? or County Line?) and built specifically for TSC pricing.

It would depend on your land plane (Brand vs homemade) You can crown a road if you go in the right direction on the correct side of the road. You also need to start on the edges and work towards the center. Commercially sold planes generally have the business blades angled and a flat blade at the rear. You want to pull it with blades angled back toward the center of the drive. Stay off the center until/unless it's needed.

I've used my Land Pride LPGS on my mile long gravel driveway for four years now and can truthfully say - it WILL NOT move gravel horizontally. For this task I use either - my Bush Hog roll over box blade(ROBB) or my uber heavy Rhino rear blade.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that your gravel moved to the edges of your driveway because of your use of your LPGS - effectively or ineffectively. Its my humble opinion that your gravel would become sand before you could move it to the edges with the LPGS. Its most likely the gravel moved to the edges simply because of traffic.

Now - after all that hot air & BS passes on - what you need is a rear blade of appropriate weight or a landscape rake. With a little practice you will be able to recover the gravel lost to the edges.

Look for the Implement Limitations page(s) in your owners manual. It will tell you the max weight & width of various implements.

My Imp Lim pages for rear blade - - max weight- 1000# max width- 72". My Rhino rear blade weighs 1000# & is 96" wide. Kubota is very cautious on what they call out for max implement specs. With a 72" rear blade - there is NO WAY I could even begin to cover my rear tire track width when I plow snow. My rear track width is 80". I just barely cover the 80" width when offset and angled to plow snow.

An angled rear blade, a yoke rake especially when angled is one of the worst tools to use unless you want to leave your fines behind and windrow stones in your driveway. A rake tends to separate the material and the local gravel that I get if you lose the fines it will not compact or pack in and all you will have is a bunch of marbles to drive on.

Guess I did not explain correctly.
Gravel will not move to the side of a driveway from using a land plane.
Gravel will move to the driveway side, because of traffic,.... but the land plane has essentially zero capability to pull it back onto the driveway from the extreme edges.
