And what are your thoughts on oils for this? I don't really want to switch to synthetic because as we know, it cleans deposits and "could" cause leaks. Just use a regular 15W40 like Rotella in engine?

I use Rotella 15w-40 in mine. I'm in Virginia so Winters are not brutal here. The only two places where you can probably find an original light switch would be a New Holland dealer or a tractor bone yard if you have any near you. eBay might, also.

I had a pail full of knobs of all types from my old Mustang and F100 parts but none are big enough for the shaft on the tractor switch. I thought I was going to get lucky because usually Ford would share stuff like that between models.

Check Dennis Carpenters site he is known for having OEM and OEM reproduction parts.

Good stuff, but mostly only goes up to 1964.

The more I look, maybe the one that is most commonly found is what it is supposed to look like and the one in my tractor may be one that was just put in? Because the aftermarket ones I am finding have kinda of the same shape knob as the fuel shutoff.

Just looked, not sure if accurate, but looks like original gauge cluster and it all works and it's showing 4692 hours.
Can't be that low though if it's a 67 you wouldn't think.

If you have remote hydraulics set up on your 3000 you can install a hydraulic top link. They are super handy.
