Ok guys I need some help,I have a 3830 kubota that I do most (75%) of my mowing with. I need something I can put around the house,here are the three cub lt1050 23hp kohler 50" @ H/D for $1999,J/Deere x300 17hp kawasaki 42"@dealer for $2500, and the little orange kubota T1770 17hp kohler 44"@dealer for $3500. Money is a big issue sense I have so much tied up in my big tractor. Help me out!

Based on price, and the fact the JD is at a dealer, and particularly because it has a kawasaki engine, I'd go for the Deere, all other things being equal.
I have a Toro with the Kawasaki 17 hp twin and 48" deck. Great engine, relatively quiet and no backfire issues. Seems to handle the near 1,000 load of tractor, deck and me without much hastle. If grass is too long or too wet, the mower will bog the deck down, but the engine slows a little until either I lighten the load or the electric clutch disengages itself. Never had a Kohler so I'm not knocking them, but the Kawasaki is a great engine. Burns about a gallon or so per hour mowing.

Although I am a CC guy, I would avoid the CC 1000 machines, there have been some serious issues with the belt driven Hydro-Gear transaxles installed in some of them that have not been properly addressed by CC IMHO. But a really great choice in the CC lineup is the 2544 GT, with 2000 hr rated 21 HP Kohler Command V twin, (Note Kohler Courage is a 750 hour rated engine) shaft drive and heavy duty hydro plus probably the best cutting 44" deck out there for $3400- give it a look, a great value true garden tractor that can twist up the JD X300 or Kubota 1770. Buy CC ONLY from a dealer!
